Privacy policy
Effective October 12, 2026 · What changed
Door Post helps you memorize Scripture. We collect as little as we can to do that, we never sell it, and we don't show ads or use tracking cookies or outside analytics.
This policy covers the Door Post website at doorpostbible.com and the Door Post apps, run by Let's Try Things, LLC ("we").
Your account
Door Post needs an account. Your progress (the verses you're learning, their strength, your XP, streaks, badges, settings and any reflections you write) is saved on your device, in your browser's or the app's storage, so the app works offline. When you sign in, we also store what we need to keep your progress in sync across your devices:
- From your sign-in provider (Google): an account ID, your email address and your name. We don't receive your password or access to anything else in your Google account.
- Your progress: the same information listed above, including reflections you write about verses.
- Sign-in sessions: a random session code so you stay signed in, and when you last used the app.
- Usage records: the days you use the app, and whether on the web or Android, so we can count how many people use Door Post.
- Where you last used Door Post: the country and state or region your last visit came from, worked out from your IP address (which isn't kept), so we can help you if you contact us.
- Support history: feedback you send from the app, our replies and your email replies to them, notes we make while helping you, and any corrections we make to your progress at your request.
We use this only to run Door Post: signing you in, syncing your progress, counting how Door Post is used (see below) and answering you if you contact us. We don't use it for advertising and we don't sell or share it with anyone for their own purposes.
How we measure use
We count how Door Post is used in totals: how many people use the app each day, how many verses are being learned and mastered, and how many people visit the website and which pages. The people who run Door Post can see usage for each account without its name or email, such as "joined in October, active 12 of the last 30 days, 40 verses started". For website visits we count page views and estimate daily visitors from a code made from your IP address and browser that changes every day and is never stored. We don't use cookies for this, and we keep only daily totals. We also count, in daily totals only, which country, and state or region, visits and app use come from, worked out from your IP address (which isn't kept), and the kind of device, system and browser, such as "Android phone, Chrome", from the information your browser sends. These totals aren't linked to your account.
Speaking verses out loud
Activities like Say it from memory use your device's speech recognition. On the web, your browser provides it; on Android, your phone's speech service does. Depending on your browser or phone, that provider may process the audio on its own servers under its own privacy policy. Door Post only receives the recognized words while the activity is open. We never receive or store your audio, and the words aren't saved.
Contacting us
When you use our contact form, we keep your name, email address and message so we can answer you, and delete them when they're no longer needed. If the email address matches a Door Post account, we may see your message alongside that account so we can help. Feedback you send from the app is kept with your account, and we may answer it by email at the address on your account. When you send feedback or a message, we email you a copy, and replies go between your email address and ours. If you ask for help, such as restoring a lost streak, we can look at your progress and correct it; every correction is recorded in your support history. The form uses Google reCAPTCHA to block spam, which checks your browser and how you use the page. Google's privacy policy and terms apply to reCAPTCHA.
Bible translations from API.Bible
Some Bible translations in Door Post come from API.Bible, run by American Bible Society. To follow those translations' licenses, we report which passages are viewed to API.Bible's Fair Use Management System, with an anonymous code for your device, an anonymous code for your session and a scrambled form of your account number that can't be turned back into it. No name, email address or IP address is sent: our server gets the text and sends these reports, so your device doesn't connect to API.Bible.
Cookies and storage
We use one cookie, only when you're signed in, to keep you signed in. We use your device's storage to save your progress. There are no advertising or analytics cookies. On the contact page only, reCAPTCHA may set its own cookies to tell people from bots.
Who else handles data
- Railway hosts our website and database in the United States.
- Google provides Sign in with Google and reCAPTCHA on the contact form.
- SendGrid (Twilio) delivers feedback and contact form messages to our inbox, your copies of them, and our email replies to you, and receives your replies to those emails.
- API.Bible receives the anonymous reports of Scripture views described above.
- DB-IP provides the data we use to tell which country and state or region an IP address is in. It runs on our own server, so your address isn't sent to DB-IP.
Like most web services, our hosting keeps short-lived technical logs, such as IP addresses and requests, to keep the service running and secure.
Keeping and deleting your data
We keep your account data until you delete your account. To delete it, open Door Post, go to Settings → Account → Delete account. That immediately deletes your account, your synced progress, your sessions, your usage records and your support history from our database. Progress saved on your own devices stays there until you remove it. Copies in our hosting provider's backups are removed as those backups expire.
You can also ask us to delete your account or send you a copy of your data using our contact form. Send it from the email address on your account so we can confirm it's you. You can save a copy of your progress yourself anytime from Settings.
Children
Door Post is for general audiences and isn't directed to children under 13. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without a parent's consent. If you believe a child has created an account, contact us and we'll delete it.
Security
Information travels over encrypted connections. We store only a scrambled form of sign-in session codes, so they can't be reused if our database were ever exposed. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above. If a change affects how we use information you've already given us, we'll tell you in the app first, show you exactly what changed, and ask you to accept it before you keep using Door Post.
